Have lived in both, currently London and NYC mixed base.

- Are you comparing London with Zürich? Or Egg with Basildon? Perspective would be key.
- If you are indeed comparing London with Zürich, they are vastly different places, cultures, languages, and work environments

Switzerland is a much smaller country, with different cultural influences than the UK. While both countries are very diverse nowadays, they have completely different demographics and cultural input. While London is an expensive place to live, Zürich is actually worse IMO.

For a career in finance, I would prefer London due to the bigger ecosystem and opportunities. Also, there is a stronger link to the US if that is something you'd want or like.

Both are developed nations in Western Europe. Both have high cost of living, but that depends on the individuals' approach and also requirements.

There are tax calculators online, again, taxes are individual and not generic. Health insurance is paid for partially by the employer in both countries. listentotaxman com for the UK.

They are VERY different cultures and countries - it is unlikely that the same person would like both places to the same extent.

Lol like anyone cares about that. Nobody in the ivory towers of London wants anything to do with the savages in the Wild West that had the gall to declare independence with help from the frogs.

Zurich is deadly boring. There's a UBS or CS building in almost every street. Even if you were autistic, it'd be nauseating. The true price of living in a very safe, orderly society, with high standard of living, is that it'll bore you beyond you can imagine. Basically you need to fly elsewhere starting friday afternoon.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Depends on your sector. I work in insurance and large bracket firms are everywhere in London that suit my CV, I don't think I'll ever be amiss for careers. If I moved to Switzerland however, I feel like I'd probably have to take up herding or living a nomadic mountain life.

Best country to live between those 2?

Great social life London

Both places are expensive to live.

SafariJoe, wins again!

I think both are cool. I really like visiting Switzerland, but I could never see myself living there. I've only been to French Switzerland though and not the larger German bit. I would probably enjoy living in the UK more. Just more to do. I would fit in more with the culture in London than I would in Geneva and presumably Zurich too, though I think I'd be fine both.
