Volunteering during COVID

Has anyone done any volunteering since COVID restrictions have lightened up?

Options seem limited so was wondering if any of you all have ideas. I’ve done soup kitchens, retirement homes, the one where you build a house for a poor family (forget the name)

Also open to pre-Covid volunteering suggestions. Anything where you felt like you were actually being helpful and were able to interact with others

Habitat for humanity?

Volunteering opportunities as you’ve mentioned come with some more tangible risks but there are likely still opportunities out there.

Since covid hit my wife and I have donated a good deal of supplies and clothing I purchased for a homeless man she kept seeing at work. Got him masks to help protect from covid, soap, bunch of food and half dozen or more outfits. That felt pretty good. We’ve also donated to a lot of food and supply drives around the area because this situation is no joke and there are a lot of people struggling. We’ve been fortunate so far not to be impacted, so good to give back because who knows if we’ll be humbled at some point.

Love that you’re looking into this though so good luck and please don’t let the depression get you too down. You sound like a good person.

Pretty much every metro area has environmental groups where you can volunteer while being socially distant (e.g. park/beach clean-ups, natural disaster clean-up, helping the elderly maintain yards, etc.). Habitat for Humanity, as the other commenter mentioned, is also a great organization.
