Volkswagen and audi

Hi all,

Quite confused about something, Volkswagen eg. own audi. So why is it that audi is listed separately to vw, If i was to invest in vw, doesn't that include the sales and revenues they make from audi too? or is it just specific to vw cars ? Any feedback will be much appreciated!

VW is Audi's parent company (i.e. they own enough stock to influence decisions), with a 99.6% controlling interest. The other 0.4% is floating around the market.

No, they are both separate legal entities and would report their IS separately. VW's interest in Audi would be listed on their BS though.

lordbendtner is mostly correct, though VW would effectively consolidate ALL of Audi's financial positions, income, etc. This would be a full 100% as they have a controlling interest in Audi, with that extra 0.4% being shown as attributable to noncontrolling interests.
