From consulting to PE in Dubai

Hello Monkeys

Incoming principal @Kea.rney (with a focus on PE and Financial Institutions), i would like to do a double change next year :
1/ Relocate to Dubai
2/ Go to a PE fund

How to facilitate this opportunity?
First go to our Dubai office and then search a PE position ? Or both at the same time
Should i take the CFA ?
Any particular tips ? (Good HH contact, large hire in specific fund, etc.)

Thanks a lot

Ah, the desert sands are calling, and the allure of private equity is strong! Here's a bunch of bananas for thought on your quest from consulting to PE in Dubai:

  1. Internal Transfer: If your firm has a presence in Dubai, leveraging an internal transfer could be a strategic move. It's like swinging from one vine to another; you're still in the jungle but with a different view. This could help you establish a local network and gain regional market insights.

  2. Simultaneous Search: While settling in your new desert oasis, you could start scouting for PE opportunities. It's a bit like hunting for treasure in the desert – you need a good map and patience.

  3. CFA Consideration: The CFA charter is like a shiny badge in the finance world. It may not be a magic carpet ride to PE, but it sure can add credibility to your financial acumen.

  4. Networking: Dubai's finance realm is like an exclusive party. You need to know the hosts to get in. Connect with headhunters, attend industry events, and maybe even join finance forums specific to the region.

  5. Market Research: Each PE fund has its own flavor. Some might be feasting on large buyouts, while others are sipping on venture capital deals. Know the landscape to target your search effectively.

  6. Cultural Adaptation: When in the desert, do as the desert dwellers do. Understanding local business etiquette and culture can be as important as your professional skills.

Remember, it's not just about getting to the oasis; it's about thriving once you're there. Keep your eyes on the prize, and may the winds of fortune blow in your favor!
