Has it ever been done: MM / non-EB boutique to MF
Laid off A1 from a top coverage group at MS/GS. Received two offers, one from a newer boutique and another from a middle market. Prior to being laid off headhunters would send me great opportunities that I unfortunately didn't have time to run at. Now that I have to lateral, are my megafund chances down the drain? Has anyone seen someone or made it themselves without a BB or EB background?
Yes, current associate associate going to HBS/GSB this fall (coming back as VP) coming from a non BB/EB or even top MM (I come from a tier 3 bank)
To be clear it takes a lot more work and a bit of luck to land these roles if you aren't at a top firm but it isn't impossible
