MBA Associate/military vet looking for PE advice

Currently a 2nd year IB associate interviewing for an associate position at Partners Group via their veteran associate program. Seems like a great opportunity, but would love to hear perspectives on whether it makes sense for someone in my position (i.e. a relatively senior associate) since I wouldn't be starting the PE gig until I hit the 3 year mark in banking. I'm already kinda old for my position, so the thought of transitioning to an even more junior role isn't ideal…can def suck it up though if the overall situation makes sense. If anyone could provide some color on any of the below points I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance!

Career trajectory - what does the promotion process look like at Partners Group/UMM PE firms? i.e. typical length at each position and what percentage of people get promoted at each level. I'm assuming most of the attrition isn't voluntary? If you don't get promoted at your firm how viable is the lateral market? Does lateraling become harder as you get more senior?

Exit opportunities - for those that leave PE, what are the most common exits you've seen?

Compensation - fully realize it'll be a pay cut starting out, but how does the carry typically play out? What would you expect the base/carry amount to look like at a firm like this? Any perspectives on the associate to the MD level would be helpful.
