Primary investing- how to write recommendations

Hi monkeys,

Spent 1 year of my career in traditional buyout. Now looking to transit and got a case study. It’s to write a recommendation presentation of whether you should invest in the fund (A PPM is provided) Any guidance on that? Not sure how to do the research for fund investing.

A lot will depend on the type of organization you are interviewing at. Some general suggestions below.

How does the proposed investment fit within the broader organization’s portfolio (geography, strategy, return profile)

Fund strategy and any significant changes to prior funds

Track record of previous funds / pre-fund track record of spin out or emerging manager

Performance benchmarking for vintage

Team size and coherence with strategy

Fund terms (key person, fees etc)
