Sector Specialization as Megafund Associate

I have been trying to research whether for on-cycle recruiting as a first year analyst, certain Megafunds (Apollo, Blackstone, Carlyle, etc) offer associate roles for specific sectors or as a generalist position. I have checked around WSO / Linkedin and am having troubling finding any answers.

I would appreciate any insight into this process, as I am currently not highly educated on how the on-cycle sector placement process works for each Megafund.
