E-Commerce/Retail Focused PE? (Originally Posted: 04/27/2011)
Hey, anyone have a list of retail or e-commerce focused PE funds (or HFs or Venture Capital firms for that matter)?
Spent the last few years out of college working at a retail dot com. Started in the warehouse at $10 an hour in a year we had $12 million in revenue, worked my way up to Vice President and we should break $90 million in revenue for the year.
Rumor has it the owners are going to sell soon and go on to something new. I feel like doing something new too which means a) I'll get a nice chunk of change from the sale and take a long vacation in Europe, and b) I'll need a career change because of some very restrictive non-compete agreements.
I'm considering business school, or maybe working in the private equity or venture capital game. Finance has always been my first love; maybe it's a pipe dream. Just trying to get the lay of the land, though. Just want a change of pace but still stay within my certain field of expertise.
What's wrong with chatting up the investors who stayed with you guys from Series A to 90MM in revs? Cannot believe this thing was entirely bootstrapped :) right? There's a few, Bessemer comes to mind...
