Urgent - Please advice - Portfolio Analyst position
Hi all,
Its my first post in this forum and the same is regarding whether i should be accepting the role of Portfolio analyst at a USD 2bn PE firm.
I have been appearing for the interviews for almost 3 months now (3 personal interviews for an hour each, 2 telephonic conversations, 1 live case study on financial modelling (cash flows, DCF, investment analysis) and one LBO case study to be done over the weekend).
So finally after passing through the 3 months of selection process and surviving other 25-30 candidates i am offered the role of a portfolio analyst. The firm is a USD 2 bn asia focussed fund with offices in New york, seoul, hongkong, japan, shanghai and new delhi. i shall be based out of delhi (India) office
The role described is as follows: 40 to 50% time in managing/ monitoring porfotio companies, 20% to 30% time in research and remaining time on valuations/ financial modelling viz providing support to the deal team.
I am currently not being offered a position in the investment team though have been given a suggestion that the same might happen in next two/ half years.
My dilemma is whether i should be accepting this position. Will the experience help me move to another PE firm in their deal team or else can i break into the deal time in this current PE. How would the experience reflect in my CV?
I currently work in a boutiqe M&A advisory firm with 2 years of experience.
Kindly advise as i need to decide in 2-3 days.
Thanks in advance.
