Capital Markets Analyst w/ JLL

I really have been looking for an analyst position underwriting deals in the industrial sector for my market however have not had any luck. I am looking for a high velocity shop so I can basically underwrite a large amount of deals and transactions and learn the market front to back. A capital markets analyst job has popped up and I am not really sure what that entails? Any help? Could this be something that can help me achieve my goals? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure JLL Capital Markets is their debt underwriting group or pretty comparable. So it sounds like it would be what you're looking for.

Capital markets at JLL is inclusive of both the debt/equity and investment sales side of the shop. It is an all encompassing umbrella.

As CRESEA has mentioned, depending on the shop this could mean that you are on either the Debt/Equity team, underwriting debt or equity raises, or on the Investment Sales Team underwriting the sale of commercial properties. In some shops they use the term Capital Markets as an umbrella term and both D/E and I/S fall under this heading. In other shops Capital Markets refers to just the D/E team. I wouldn't stress about it too much, in either case you are going to be getting experience underwriting deals and learning a lot, and it is a great place to start your career. What I would advise is to definitely interview and research which team you will be working for and how active that team is in the market. Ideally you want to make sure that you are on an active team so that you can get in a ton of reps, as transaction experience is going to be more important than the title of your job.

Confirming previous comments that D/E and I/S both fall under the CMG umbrella - at least since the merger with HFF. Industrial is, and is going to continue to be, a great sector as the market starts to come out of COVID, but I suggest you don't limit yourself to just one Property sector. Many of the JLL offices across the county bifurcate teams into MH and commercial. Industrial falls under the "commercial" umbrella, but a role on a commercial team at JLL will also get you (valuable) exposure to office and retail as well. JLL is a great company to work for and is a top 3 shop in most markets across the country - especially on the debt side since they merged with HFF.
