Since you asked this in such a "meta" type way lol... I'll just drop a few books I read while I college (none really relate to real estate directly)... I think all were more influential than I even admit.....

Rich Dad, Poor Dad

Think and Grow Rich

The Millionaire Mind/Millionaire Next Door (both by T. Stanley, a few books of similar names)

The Alchemist

Also add a few I read more recently but wish I read earlier...

All books of the Incerto by Nasim Teleb

Mindset

Outliers (M. Gladwell)

Overall, general stuff about life/success, etc. Some are pretty "lofty" (if you read Rich Dad, you will get what I mean), but still worth reading for the mindset and perspective (not all practical)

Such a 23-year-old thing to assume there's an age of no turning back lol...I get what you mean. Here's some more abstract advice:

  • Network a ton. Reach out to interesting people, even those outside of your particular niche/asset type or even industry.
  • Take risks earlier in your career, before you rack up too many life responsibilities (e.g. get married, have kids, own a home, etc.).
  • Try different things in real estate, but be open to finding a career path even outside of real estate.
  • Ask a lot of questions!
  • Have interests outside of work. Don't define yourself by your job.
