Listed REIT vs MM REPE
Inspired by a few comments in another thread, I would like to understand what you lovely people would take if you were entering the market in today's current market from I/S or without prior principal exp (or with minimal buyside exp) . - a strong top 5 listed REIT OR a MM REPE
I'd lean toward the brand value name of the REIT but the only thing that would hold me back is if I'd struggle to move to repe different risk profiles - would you likely just move to an institutional investor
You couldn’t pay me to work at a REIT again. That reporting and strict hierarchy is brutal. MM REPE all day imo, much easier to get a slice of carry/be a principal earlier.
Maybe there’s an argument to be made for brand value earlier in career, but not as much of a consideration once you get a few years/txns under your belt.
lol dude that bad? doesnt the back office teams do all the reporting stuff. Noted on the hierarchy guess that be corpo life.
No sadly. You’re still doing a lot of reporting in the FO positions.
bump - anyone else
Would need more info on this MM REPE, comparative firms by AUM. Also, what are the strong suits that you see in each role? What are your long-term goals; do these roles match or get you there? This is an extremely personal decision so a forum can only provide so much light to the choices.
well I guess 30bn vs 2bn for starters and perhaps the more nimble smaller repe being more acquisitive I guess and better comp - but thinking long-term that a big ass name would help an eventual move to a better repe if y'all get that
