MSRED w/ minimal experience

WSO,

Applying to NYU, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and Clemson's MSRED programs. Admitted to NYU. Waiting/submitting others in very near future. Have an undergraduate finance degree from good state school (think UVA, Michigan, UNC, Cal). ~3.0gpa

Have spent 1 year as an office LL rep in major SE city. Wanting to make the jump over to a development analyst position and think this will be the quickest way.

Have had trouble switching over to capital mkts side of brokerage due to lack of experience in undergrad. Did not originally plan on doing RE but pivoted.

I understand that networking is key here - it is how the RE world runs and how I got my current position. Wanted to see if anyone on WSO has successfully been able to pivot to a good development analyst role with minimal experience prior to their MSRED program. The vast majority of posts I have seen on here relate to MSRE programs and people focused on obtaining acquisitions/REIT/other finance roles.

These programs seem to have high admission rates and want to make sure it would be worth my while to attend one of these schools.

Honestly, you are in an ideal position for a MRED degree based on your background and all of the four you applied to will help you get to where you want to go.

I had some more experience than you on the front end, but I made a similar transition, got into three of the four programs you applied to (and simply didn't apply to the other), and it worked out well for me.

You will of course have to network, and hopefully get an internship, but the story of a broker with a year of experience going back to school to transition to development is gold.

Any anecdotal evidence from anyone on WSO that's been in a similar boat? Appears NYU's MSRE has fine placement if you're willing to network but not much talk on WSO about their MSRED. Would love to be in NYC but unsure if I'll be consistently beat out by Columbia MSREDs/other Ivy League undergrads. Again - I understand that networking is key, but want to know how well the NYU MSRED program is viewed in relation to others.

Any help is appreciated.
