Would you attach a cover letter if your resume includes no previous experience related to the field?
I'm a senior in high school attending Western University for their Richard Ivey school of business next year. I want to get my foot in the door of the industry early, so I was planning on seeking an internship this summer(hopefully in PWM, but really any finance related internship would make me more than happy).
However, credibility is my downfall. I'm interested in finance and am pursuing it as a specialization in uni, but I don't have any previous work experience in the field. Should I attach a cover letter to my resume explaining my interest in finance?
Where are you attaching it to? If you're attaching it to an email, the email should be your cover letter for the most part.
I was thinking of doing some by email and some by going to banks and handing in a physical copy. For both, what would be an appropriate length? I don't want them to think TL;DR.
There's a guide on here for how to write an appropriate cover letter. You should check it out. There's templates and everything so all you basically have to do is plug in your name and you're good to go! (I wouldn't do that though. You should tailor it to fit you a bit more than that)
