Advice for Graduation: Oxbridge vs Masters with part time job
Hey guys!
I am looking for some advice for my choice of graduate studies. I am considering the following options but don't know which one to choose:
-
Masters at Oxbridge for 1 year.
Pros: The name, gets me in the target schools for FO, great networking opportunities, great student life (I hope), international experience
Cons: tuition fees (which I can afford, is it worth it?) -
Masters at a top 10 University in the world, but non-target for FO jobs (rather Computer Science, Statistics, etc.) for 1.5-2 years
Pros: The name is very good in other things that are not FO Banking (thinking about academia maybe where it would be probably a bit better than the target from the point of view of the program), possibility of a part-time job after a great SA position at great company for Commodity Trading
Cons: If I want to transition to Trading in Banking it is going to be much harder, studying experience is not new as I did undergraduate there as well
What do you guys think? Do you think the company for this summer would be willing to wait 1 year for FT offer if I decide to go for the target? How much do Commodity traders value prestige of targets? Company has an office near the target school as well, however I am not sure If I can manage the part-time job during my studies while being in the target...
Looking forward to your answers!
