BC - Carroll School of Management (MBA) vs. UMass Boston - College of Management
I am looking for insight into a BC MBA vs. a UMASS Boston MBA
First I will say I recognize that these two schools are not perceived to be on the same level academically.
Additionally I do not anticipate acceptance to either being an issue and I plan to attend starting in the fall of next year if not earlier.
I have experience in BO Finance and would like to move towards Asset Management and being involved in the Investment Decision Making Process. I have an interest in pursuing the CFA and probably some people would say just do that don't get an MBA but I want both.
I am in my late 20's and cost is a substantial factor because children are in the picture in the next few years.
I am essentially looking for insight into if it will be 100% worth it down the road to spend the SUBSTANTIALLY LARGER amount of money and time get my MBA from BC or if I can get my MBA from UMASS Boston say 1-2 years sooner at a substantially reduced cost.......... will there be a large difference 5 years 10 years etc. down the road.
I have gotten mixed reviews "BC will open more doors" "After a few years one or the other doesn't matter as long as you have your MBA box checked" etc.
I know there are a lot of posts on here about the TOP 10 Schools - that's not realistic for me - so I am looking for opinions based on these options.
Thank you in advance and I appreciate your time!!!
I think the classmates you meet will have a big difference. classes are not a big problem, but you'll probably meet more "check MBA box" types at UMass Boston versus a ~top 50 BC with stronger undergrad scenes. You also only can do MBA once, so it works for your favor to have more network to avoid turbulence in your future career.
some people have the obligations that makes then choose programs lower than their potentials, and if they know what they're getting into, it's not a bad deal after all. but for sure they're having a lot more safety right now in flexibility or financials, by putting future at more risk
