Cornell vs Unc vs Emory vs Mich
Hello
I have been accepted to the following schools and im looking for advice. I plan to break into BB IB. Which school and major would best set me up for success. All schools relatively cost the same to attend after financial aid.
Cornell Dyson AEM (pre-admit) vs. UNC( would have to apply to the business school as sophomore) vs. Michigan college of engineering vs Emory( Would have to apply to the business school internally)
As of now my top choices are Cornell and UNC.I have been leaning towards UNC because of the better weather, sports and overall quality of life ,but I am afraid that I will regret not attending Cornell.Especially considering me being admitted to Keenan-Flagler is not certain.
Will the ivy title really provide more opportunities later in life? How much does the recruitment vary between the two schools? Would an engineering degree be and advantage for breaking in? I have yet to visit these schools but will be doing so this month.
Thank you for the advice!
Cornell>UNC (assuming you get into Flager)> UMICH(should do Ross instead)> Emory:::::: (Placment) if you did Ross for UMich it jumps UNC
Quality of life: UNC (warm weather gives it the edge)> UMICH> Emory> Cornell
Its all a combo of what you want, but none are bad choices.
Go to Cornell, much better recruiting than UNC. At my BB I can't think of a single kid from UNC (though I'm sure there are some) but I know a bunch of Cornell kids.
Cornell or Michigan (if you transfer to ross) are your best options easily. I wouldn't spend a minute more considering UNC or Emory.
Went to Cornell. One of my classmates talked to one of our old professors and says they had 40 spots left for over 4000 applicants after early admission. Take it and run, assuming costs are the same. Why risk having to transfer into the business school at UNC or UMICH and fall short? Also, Cornell has the best name nationally.
Wow only one percent RD Dyson acceptance! Did you major in dyson as an undergrad?
I did. PM if you want more details.
Go to Cornell! If you do engineering at one of other schools u mentionned, it's very hard to break into IB or finance in general - U might get quantitative positions or u might needa go MBA before u can break into IB.
I would choose Cornell solely for you're 'pre-admit' to AEM. Applying to the business program 1-2 years in an undergrad program is a dangerous gamble in my opinion - Cornell AEM is already guaranteed if I understand you correctly and I would venture to guess it has better recruiting. You're right about quality of life btw.
It's quality of life verse recruitment.
Cornell is probably a better school and will have much better recruiting, but I will say that there's nothing like rushing Franklin Street after beating dook or (if you're fortunate enough) winning a national championship.
