Transfer from UVA (Pre-commerce + Echols) to GTown, Vandy, ND (Econ), Brown, WashU (Olin), Cornell (Econ), Chicago or stay?
Hate UVA. Want to get some experience on the Street before transitioning to academia. Undecided major in UVA, but I'm trying for McIntire OR designing my own hybrid major with politics and business economics. Should I apply to transfer to these schools instead? I would like to be at a school with less of a preprofessional focus but is still heavily recruited (or has a good name on the street).

Undergrad->Street(~4 years)->MBA/PhD/JD
Ok, firstly, lets halt that galloping and bring that cart back.
Secondly, I think you need to focus on the primary priority which is procuring acceptance to transfer in the schools you've listed above. Because, and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, if you hadn't received that admissions email or letter if you're old school. Then this conversation is all airs or hypotheticals.
Thirdly, indulging you a little bit, if you get in to Cornell, Chicago, Brown or GTown then simply it would be up to f*** it up. You certainly can break in on the street from any of those schools. I'd rank Vandy and WashU next, with an emphasis on Vandy, meaning, hypothetically if you were accepted to both of those school and rejected from the rest, chose Vandy. Don't know much about ND?

Jeez, squeeze CEO of F500 after "MBA/PhD/JD"... but seriously I get that and I know how you feel. I am, just like you, very future-time oriented and plan decades in advance often. But my advice is to slow down a little and create micro goals/accomplishments. Your first one is too receive those admission acceptance emails or letters again if you're school.

I just want to see if I should transfer or not. These schools I'm aiming to transfer potentially. However, thank you. Would you put UVA above any of those schools?
Certainly not against Cornell, Chicago or Brown. Maybe not even GTown, these schools I assure you have decent representation on the street and are decidedly ranked higher than UVA. But with UVA honestly you can reasonably expect, with some networking incorporated in your stratagem to acquiring a spot in IB. To work on the street after graduation - UVA is a fantastic school even though its a little 'fratty'.
If you don't mind my prying: why leave UVA?
Currently have a buddy thats thinking the same thing and told me he despise the culture at UVA and lists that as his primary reasons for desiring to transfer.
Its also a Semi-target based to my knowledge.
UVA is a really solid school and if you can get in McIntire you should definitely stay. If you insist on transferring Brown GTown and Chicago are solid. I wouldn't transfer to Cornell econ just because you'll be playing second fiddle against the Dyson kids.
IMO, not worth it to transfer to Vandy, and probably not worth it to transfer to ND, WashU, and maybe GTown. For the others, why not send in apps and see what happens? Then you'll have actual information about your options instead of everyone hypothesizing.
If you really don't like the culture and absolutely can't stand it, you should probably transfer, but it's tough starting over as a transfer anywhere and that shouldn't be discounted.
UVa places very well.
In term of number of kids in any given analyst class across all the BBs and EBs, UVA McIntire has SIGNIFICANTLY more than Wash U, Brown, ND and Vandy in NYC and roughly the same as Gtown, Cornell and Chicago (a few more at CS and MS, a few less at GS and EVR probably).
If you hate it and your entire plan is predicated on getting into McIntire (which you haven't yet), then you might just want to transfer for other reasons but judging by this broad and pretty diverse set of schools, guessing you don't really know what you're after yet.

Depends on which ones you can get into. And assuming you can get into all the schools on your list, I would say Brown and UChi are probably the best for recruitment. (Cornell normally should be ok, but you're competing with hotelies and Dyson kids who have a slight advantage over Econ majors)
Just curious, what is it about the culture that sucks at UVA?
assuming that you are in-state from some of your comments, it would be pretty crazy to try and transfer to the schools you listed and pay 3X in tuition. get into mcintire and you'll have a really strong shot at BBs if your gpa is solid.
