Warwick University MFIN - Good to break into iB?
Saw some of the ranking on the forums and want to know what are my chances of breaking into IB going to an MSc Fin program at Warwick university.
Some posters say WW MFin is a good semi target, others say it is target whilst others still say it is mid.
I've only seen people from Warwick MFin get into IB if they 1) have previous IB experience or 2) manage to get an IB internship between undergrad and masters.
Most of the others seem to end up in B4.
It's really just best to go on linkedin and have a look at alumni profiles.
As someone who did MFin there, this is broadly right.
My view is that once you’re at somewhere like Warwick or better, it comes down to the individual, their priorities and doing the necessary work.
The students who went to B4 typically weren’t set on banking/investing to start with, and those who were put in the work to get there. Can’t really think of anyone who was super set on it without eventually landing something FO.
It’s quite a tough year but in hindsight it really strengthened my applications (along with deliberate prep/networking etc) and I’m really good friends with some of my old coursemates 5+ years later.
