Commodity vs Fixed Income Trading
Hello folks, I'm currently in the midst of trying to decide my next career move between 2 positions. I currently have an offer for a junior commodity trader in a very niche commodity there is no real derivatives market for it and it will be entirely physical trading. I have a good chance at getting an offer at an AM as a short term fixed income trader which has the opportunity to lead to a PM role longer term as well which I will know the status for sure next week. I currently work in operations doing settlements at an AM (16mo WE) and am a L3 CFA candidate so either is a significant step up from what I do now.
Is there anyone who has happened to do both commodity and FI trading (longshot) that could offer some insight on which I should choose? Or just on the commodity side of things? I understand the longer term path of becoming a FI PM but I cant really visualize the long term opportunities of commodity trading so any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!
