Moving from equity analyst to S/T--how to develop relationships?

Long story short; I've been a large cap equity analyst for a boutique IB for about 10 years now, and I'm now working on a new project--we're building an all electronic exchange for local currency denominated emerging market debt, starting in southeast Asia and planning to build out from there. Our added val is providing faster settlement thanks to in-country partnership, better access to more buyers for the same reason, and more price transparency than most buyers get when dealing with our target market.

My problem is that this is a tremendous leap; I have great relationships with the buyside when it comes to U.S. equities, but I have absolutely no relationships with the credit world, let alone EM. My partner is helping me build some connections, but I was wondering if there was another more effective way to introduce the project to the buyside relevant to this project. Any advice?
