Physical trader comp
I’m a junior trader at a name brand ag shop. Recently I got the opportunity to jump to a smaller shop. I’m meeting with their hiring manager next week and I want to go in with an idea of what I should expect comp wise. What’s a reasonable % of pnl and base salary? This role would involve almost no company assets if that matters.
Compensation is often highly dependent on the product being traded. What do you specialize in?
My experience is in trading feed products specifically oil seeds. Whole cottonseed Would be the main commodity I’d trade but this role would most likely cover at least 3-4 other types of more niche unhedgible feed as well.
Too hard to say. This depends on a bunch of things - what physical assets this shop has, what city they're in, etc.
I would imagine something like 90 - 150K base, and a bonus of 5 - 15 % of the gross margin of the book.
Perhaps try to find out if bonus comp is discretionary or a written % of PnL.
The division of the company I’d be going to work for has almost no assets. These seem like decent numbers. I was going to ask for 100k base and 20% of PNL. Glad I’m not totally crazy
So you are a junior trader who will become a fully fledged trader for this opportunity in the new shop?
