Principal Transactions
Can Somebody please explain to me what principal transactions are. I have noticed the term on the financial companies financial statements of financial companies, but im not sure what exactly they are. I realized that they come in 2 flavors, matched and unmatched but im not really sure what this means. Is this just the formal term fow flow and prop trading? Can someone please clarify. Please no speculation only someone that truly understands what it means.
principal transactions are generally investments that are done using the firm's own capital (internal hedge fund)
