Structuring and Valuation of Commodity Transactions
Hi all,
I was invited to an interview for a Quant role at some energy producer's department that provides structuring and valuation services for commodity transactions (mostly power).
I have no background in Trading or the Energy market, so I am not aware
- what structuring really means (does it refer to the acquiring of financing for the various processes until sale, e.g., mining, shipment, warehousing, delivery, etc.?), and
- what models are used for the valuation of these types of commodities.
Does anyone work in or close to this field and can provide some more details on what they do? Books, course material, etc. are most welcome.
Am I right to assume that transitioning from Commodity Trading Support Role like this into Algorithmic Trading (like Citadel et al) is not unheard of?
Thanks for your thoughts!
