Breaking into Accenture/Deloitte from Healthcare Startup

Hello! I'm currently working at a healthcare startup in Chicago as a fresh graduate gaining expertise in data analysis and some consulting work. My college GPA was only a 2.5, however. What are my chances of breaking into Accenture/Deloitte as a lateral hire?

With that GPA, unless you have some serious stellar work experience, know a partner really well, or are from a super target where you can seriously network with alums- pretty slim. Sorry dude :/

Thanks for the feedback. What would you say would be stellar work experience? In college, I was a machine learning intern, interned as a product manager at a mobile app startup, and was a member of a consulting organization at my university. Could interning at a smaller consulting firm help me break through?

Stellar work experience has 2 components: 1) Undeniable impact and 2) Prestige of Company (I'd say in that order of importance, but very close split). You can work at a consulting firm, or a F500 company, or a hot new startup, or whatever, but you have to really rock it and show you've really driven your projects and helped contribute to the company's success.

What college did you go to?

I'm like 99% sure that UIUC has campus presence for all three firms considering it's well known- it is at worst, a semi-target, at best a full target for the MBB firms, as well as tier 2. You should not face a shortage of people to network with from any of the MBBs that are alums from there, what's holding you back right now is honestly your GPA. That being said, once again if you network hard enough and have good work experience, your school rep is strong enough that there's no reason you shouldn't be able to break in (might be after an MBA, but still).

Ok...makes sense. And thanks for the insight. I guess my worry is that it may be hard to get into a top mba program. Can I break into MBB from a tier2/tier3 mba program? In college, my GPA was more due to extenuating circumstances and I'd really like to grow and move past that.
