Difference between ‘tiers’ of GE shops?

Have heard dispersion in VC between good and bad investors is massive. This is less so the case in buyout PE, where there are plenty of small firms (MM/LMM) that are equally as profitable for their AUM within their space.

Where does GE place on this scale? Is it ok settling for a T2/3 GE shop out of undergraduate?
