Are there any cons of taking GMAT while in college?

Since I am about to graduate in a few months I was thinking about taking the GMAT soon but I am not a 100% sure if I want to. After thinking about it the choice to take it while in college seems ideal since I am still in that "study mode" and I am also not taking that many courses so I would have time to study as opposed to when I start working full time. I couldn't think of any downsides though of knocking it out of the way now since the score is valid for five years this means I should have 5 years of work exp. before matriculating (if all things go well and as planned) so it seems to work out well in my favor.

I still feel though there should be some sort cons since a lot of people take the exam while working but I can't put my finger on any. With this I was wondering what are some of the "negatives" about taking the GMAT right before starting full time (if at all)?

I took it my senior year and if you have the time it's the way to go. If you decide to go to bschool in >5 years you will have to take it then regardless, and knowing you have that first box already checked off if you decide to go earlier is a great feeling.

I work at a consulting firm, and most of my peers took the GMAT senior year of undergrad. I did not, and had to study on flights and weekends last year.

The only major con I can think of is that you are replacing a portion of your semester of fun to study.

Like all the others say...take it now. You won't have this much free time if you are pursuing a career in finance straight from undergrad. If you can make time for it, study up these next few months and aim for an appointment in April or May.

"The way to make money is to buy when blood is running in the streets."

Taking it now is a great idea. You would be amazed at how many students spend a year to get their target gmat score. It is not fun and is very stressful, especially when you are working full time.

The only con I can think of is that you end up applying to business schools more than five years from now, in that case all the time and effort you put in now goes to waste.
