Background Check - Working at a small MM
I'm working at a smaller MM investment bank in a relatively smaller city (not NY, Chicago, LA, SF, and the like). About 6 weeks ago, I received an email saying that I had an offer to intern at the bank as a summer ibanking analyst, and the MD just wanted me to respond back stating that I would intern there. We talked on the phone regarding the logistics of my internship and agreed on a start date, in which I would show up for the first time. I just wanted to make sure if it's normal that smaller banks like this one don't neccessarily need something like a certificate of enrollment or official transcript shipped to HR or something like that.
I know that the BB's usually ask for official transcripts when you sign full-time to make sure you actually graduated and that your GPA was in the vicinity of what you mentioned on your transcript. If I didn't get a follow-up from the MD after agreeing on the start date, is it safe to assume that I don't need a background check?
Is it paid or unpaid?
