Blackberry Playbook

Finally...

RIM has decided to stop trying to be Apple and focus on the corporate user again. The name for their new device is brilliant and its specs blow everyone else out of the water:

"The PlayBook has a 7-inch display--apparently the de facto standard for tablets now--and weighs in under a pound. It has 1GB of RAM--double the memory of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and four times that of the Apple iPad. It has a dual-core processor, effectively doubling the computing capacity of competing tablets. It has dual HD cameras (one 3MP front facing and one 5MP rear facing), HD video recording capability, and HDMI output."

"Will launch as a WiFi only device at first, which is a significant drawback, but it will be able to pair with a BlackBerry smartphone for sharing data and its 3G data connection via a secure Bluetooth 2.1 connection. 3G and 4G models are planned for release next year."

"Those features are nice, but what really sets the PlayBook apart is the software. With support for MP3, AAC, and WMA, the PlayBook is capable of handling even Apple and Microsoft proprietary audio formats. Its support of Adobe Flash Player and HTML5 ensures that it is compatible with virtually any interactive Web site or online video content."

and it is less than $500!

Where it lacks is in the app department. I think that if they focus on corporate app development, specifically in the video conferencing department they can get some of their mojo back.

I am excited about it. "The world's first professional tablet". For those of you who have an iPad, how do you feel about it?
