Breakfast introduction

I have my first face to face meeting over breakfast with an alumni who's firm I'm looking to get an internship with. This will be my first meet up outside of events my school puts on so I'm not really sure what to expect. What type of conversation should I expect and prepare for? How can I use this opportunity to start separating myself from the other applicants? Thanks!

I’ve falled victim to this in the past, but don’t overprepare. It’s going to be hard to draw the line in telling you what you should and shouldn’t know or study up on before the meet, but generally speaking just be yourself and relax. The interviews are the best time to share your knowledge.

Outside of this, I would say know what sectors he/she covers, and possibly share your thoughts about news and trends in this sector. This way it’s conversational and shows you know a thing or two about something other than just trying to find a job.
