Can I Slack Off Now? Offer Secured

What's up everyone. Recently received a verbal offer for a job that I'm 85% gonna take (15% reserved for firms I'm still interviewing with), nonetheless, I have one foot out the door at my current firm.

Now, I hate my current firm. I hate the work I have been recently delegated to do, I dislike a lot of the processes and investment operations, and I certainly dislike a good amount of the miserable people who work there.

My question is: can I start slacking off now? I really don't give two shits about anything or anyone at my firm anymore, except for my fellow analyst. Like the thought of saying "nah I'm actually leaving the firm" when asked to do something sounds so sweet. But maybe I'm just an asshole.

Have you guys ever gone through this? Can you act like a prick when you have the bag secured? I am not worried about burning bridges because my office houses no BSD's who could ruin my rep, but of course would not intentionally ruin relationships.

Definitely tempting and I understand your POV. But right now you have to think long-term, not short term dissatisfaction with your current shop.

You don't want this to bite you in the ass, especially if you (virtually) act a fool in front of your superiors. If you asked if you could slack within the analyst pit, then that's a different story, yet it's not the case. Just bite your tongue until you leave, then you can talk all the shit you want to.

There's a huge difference between slacking off and straight up "nah I'm not doing this" insubordination. There's no reason to be the first in the office and the last to leave anymore, but don't burn bridges on the way out or act like an ass. The industry is way too small.

Keep your head down, do what you need to do, and know that you're heading off to better things. Leave with class.

If it's just verbal than you don't have an offer. Keep this in mind while you are in talks with the other firms and with your current employer. In this market the offer could never make it to paper or even be rescinded. I like the comments about leaving a great impression based on effort and work quality.
