Career advice desperately needed
I graduated law school from an OK school (it's barely in the top 40 in the country, so think University of Illinois, UNC-Chapel Hill types) with about a 3.4. Did well in a non-target state school for undergrad in Econ. I knew I didn't want to practice law but rather pursue a career in finance after the first year, but stayed because it was just after the market took a dump and I did well on my LSAT, so I was on scholarships for a lot of it. I did a lot of finance/securities related work in school, including publishing a paper on securities law. Now, it is a year later and all I have is 6 months at a prop shop that most would people on this site would dump on. Getting interviews at boutiques for FO positions and other trading/finance jobs but they're dinging me for lack of real finance experience. I'm studying for the CFA in Dec, don't know if that will help. Friends of mine during law school with similar qualifications to my own are making decent money practicing and I'm debating just doing that...although I hated it. Any advice?

Pretty sure I've seen some articles(s) at mergersandinquisitions.com about breaking into IB from law, maybe not right out of law school.
