Boutique IB or Duff & Phelps? Which program would have better exit opps? What if I wanted to go into consulting?
I think your best bet would be taking the boutique IB simply bc due diligence is a lot more accounting focused. Although it depends on what you do during the summer you will be better prepped for the consulting job by working at the boutique.
Thank you William.
Additional inputs from everyone appreciated.
Duff and Phelps is a very strong company. They used to be at PwC and then at Standard and Poors before they were spun out. Doing transaction services will provide good modeling skills, but i am not sure exactly what being in the group due diligence means.
Due diligence usually means you are checking the assumptions (models, math, whatever) of your client rather than advising, or as Gekko would say, "creating". I would take boutique IB unless your boutique is a complete unknown, then I'd consider going with the known quantity.
