Portfolio management, second career step

Hello,

I work as a credit pm for 8 years now and i feel a bit stuck in my current role for different reasons. I've always been with the same firm so aside from looking for a better comp and a new environment at a competitor, is there a different field that I should look into ? (my background: MFE/quant, cfa)

I am no more than a 2nd year analyst for structured/distressed assets, but is there applicable skill to go from PM in IGC to say Private or Equities? Granted I believe most skills can be learned just a few odd scenarios that may have not been previously encountered.

Most of the PMs at my fund in HY & IGC were former commercial bankers and the PMs in Private, EM & Equities were former investment bankers. Just an observation, may be due to my firm's politics in recruiting though.
