Fire Department Watches As House Burns Down
I don't know how many of you have seen this news story, but basically a man did not pay the $75 annual fire department fee, so the fire department refused to put out the fire when it reached his house. He offered to pay the fee on the spot, but they refused his pleas and watched as it totaled the family's house and killed their pets. Once the fire had spread to a neighbor's house (who had paid the fee), the fire fighters put it out.

I'm interested to see if anyone has the balls to support the fire department in this case. I certainly see why they did what they did, and hate a free-rider as much as the next guy, but at some point there has to be some human mercy. It was a family's house and beloved pets after all.
I'm going to try to ignore the Beck-bashing aspect of the article, because to me, he just made a purely logical argument after he said he was going to put all compassion aside for the sake of the argument. I feel like he sufficiently qualified the angle he was arguing from to warrant what was said. It seems to me like he was more EXPLAINING the fire department's actions than CONDONING them.
Bottom line: Was the fire department right to let the man's house burn to the ground?
Beck makes a lot of good points. Pat Buchanan did too, that's why republicans hated him more than democrats.
Fire departments should exist on a volunteer basis. Only assurance of vigilance.
Absolutely not. The fire department should have saved the house. Mr. Cranick is a fucking clown, but his family members and pets should not suffer because of that.
People need to learn how to be forgiving these days. We all make mistakes sooner or later.
