Fortune 500

I've been on hunt for a year now, and it's becoming quite apparent that I'm wasting away by not gaining relevant experience. An MD recently recommended I go to industry first, given the current state of hiring on wall st.

Can anyone who's been through it hash out the career track for a jr guy starting at a fortune 500. How hard is it to eventually come back for a finance job, how hard to get into a top b-school, etc.

Thanks in advance.
