Goldman Fargo?

consensus is that Goldman and Morgan will be merging with commercial banks.

Wells Fargo is the only AAA and Buffet loves it (Berkshire Hathaway has a huge stake). Does anyone think his $5bn stake in Goldman foreshadows a merger?

And what about MS? They tried with WaMu last week and it didn't go through (thankfully). I've heard a lot about Wachovia picking them up. Thoughts?

Wachovia is apparently in early talks with everyone and their mother right now...everyone that is except GS and MS.

Huh? You're late as hell

Huh? You're late as hell man....

They just converted to commercial banks to avoid having to sell.

Morgan Stanley and Wachovia are no longer in mergers talks...

They will purchase small

They will purchase small distressed regional banks to build up their deposit; however, there is no way, in my opinion, you will see a Goldman-Wells tie-up, and Wachovia is not going to purchase Morgan Stanley, especially when its own existence is in danger of purchase by the likes of a Citi or Wells.
