Interview stage / status

Been running in this buyside process to a very reputable PE firm (for a cap mkts role) and it’s been going on since late November. They are notorious for having you interview >10 people. I’m at the pointy end, they’re discussing comp and approach to buy out unvested shares etc.

The recruiter running the process texted this morning that HR at this firm wants a call to meet me + “chat through the process”.
How do you guys think I’m placed at this juncture, and what is the purpose of this next step? Prior to last discussions with two MDs, it was down to two and those went well.

I’ve been at the same firm my entire career to date, so the experience recruitment process and stages are obviously new to me.

Honestly not sure how many more discussions I can have without going crazy / or it being obvious I’m being dragged along as a stalking horse.

Will update this (and hopefully subsequently if offered), so if anyone is going through a similar process and it's new to them and frustrating, there is context.

Spoke with the HR person. They wanted to "get to know me" in advance of a decision being made given she'll be the contact for onboarding, etc. Also some generic questions around motivation for the role, why leaving, who I am/my background. Then some questions around my comp historically / timing of upcoming one, vesting schedule of current SBC, notice period, etc.

All suggestions would seem this is positive and in the final stages, but you can never be certain.

Also confirmed that this is the last discussion I'd be having with them (of > 10 interviews/meetings).

Update.

Got the update from the senior contact at the sponsor who is running this process from their end (through the recruiter).

Received the unofficial confirmation that I'm the selected candidate now and it's just going to be a HR process from here on in. They're turning around the offer / contract which I should receive in the near future.

So long story short... if you get to the point where you're chatting with HR around comp, would try and work out via them/recruiter if you're the only one having that chat. If so, then things are looking good and it's likely just a formality from this point forward.

Hello Gen,

Congratulation!  I also just finished the call with HR who asked same questions on compensation, expectation, relocation etc. May I know is your unoffical offer is received by email or by a call?
