MIS, Accounting, or Finance?
I'm a little conflicted on which ones to choose for my major. I will be attending UT austin, and because they only allow one business major, I will have to decide on what to do.
I could do accounting, and assuming I get my CPA, the likelihood of working at a Big 4 company seems very good. UT's accounting program is top notch, and it would be a shame not to utilize that resource.
I've also been looking into MIS, and it interests me a lot. I'm very interested in tech, and the job outlook is very prosperous. However, it seems that there will be a lot of competition with the other majors (CS, IT, etc.)
Finance is very approachable, but I'm afraid of the competition that's ahead. I don't know whether the field will change drastically within a few years. The way it looks, finance opens wayy more opportunities than the other two majors, but I feel that there is a big trade off at hand.
I would like to know your opinions, and they matter to me very greatly.
Also, I plan to minor in computer science. If anyone knows anything about a cs overlap in a business field or how useful it would be than please provide feedback.
Thank you in advance.

The choice at McCombs between
The choice at McCombs between the three isn't uncommon. What you need to consider is that the 3 majors don't open the same doors. You already mentioned that MPA+CPA at Texas is great. That's true, but just know it most likely means you are working for a big 4. That's not a bad thing, but the MPA route makes it much harder to get into banking. Banks who recruit at Texas recruit more Finance majors.
If banking or big 4 accounting is not your end goal, MIS is a great option as well. I don't know first hand where people go to work from that program, but its a strong major with arguably the best profs at McCombs.
I also have to throw in more specific advice. I'm assuming you are an incoming freshman with this. You need to make at least a 3.85 your first year, get involved in a business group + a non-business group and apply to BHP. It really does separate you when it comes to recruiting for any job. Its not that a non-BHP student at Texas can't get great jobs, but the BHP stamp carries actra weight. Also look into other specialized programs in your major. Fiance has FAP, accounting has the MPA, not sure about MIS.
The CS minor is a good idea. Didn't do it, but it is a booster for sure. Econ or accounting are good minors as well.
