Networking after application is submitted?
I've sent off a few apps to some IB firms. How should I Go about emailing employees? Tell them I applied to your firm and would like to discuss some of your experiences?
Is it as effective as networking prior to submitted an app or does it make no difference?
bump.
Shoot over an email saying you applied online/OCR/sent HR an email/whatever and were wondering if there was any other way to strengthen your candidacy and that you're excited about it. It's a harmless question that will tell your contact that you really want it and that you've applied, and usually gets you a reply like "that's all you can do, I'll shoot HR an email."
Networking with current employees after application? (Originally Posted: 01/15/2012)
So I am applying for an internship at a middle market company. I do not know anyone there but one of my professors knows two people that I could get in touch with. I asked and now have their email addresses.
Is it worth it to contact them now? What should I say?
I feel like they won't really be able to help me out if they just met me over the phone. So should I just ask them for an informational interview?
Could I say this:
"Hi my name is X and I am applying for an internship at your company. My professor Y referred me to you. I was wondering if you had 10 minutes to talk sometime about how to best position myself for an internship/interview?"
