Orthodontic resident looking at benefits of doing a MBA
How are you all going.
I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to start an Orthodontic residency beginning in a couple of months having worked as a general dentist for about 3 years. I have become more interested with time in regards to pursuing a MBA - although I'm not entirely sure how it would benefit me if I wanted to still practice mainly as a clinician. The principle reason is that I can see some potential benefits in perhaps a part-time MBA if I were to own and operate multiple orthodontic practices. I understand that I would not require a MBA from a prestigious institution as I am not seeking a career change.
However, there are significant increases in upwards pressure from general dentists who will start doing more and more orthodontic treatment in the near future. How difficult would it be for someone like myself, who say would have completed a part-time MBA and comes from a specialised healthcare setting, to one day get into consulting?
I would love to hear from more members in this community.
Thanks
