Reneging on FT Big4 Offer for another Big4 Position

Would love any advice. I am an undergrad senior, and I interned at one big 4 firm (Firm A) over the summer in a non-consulting m&a valuation role. I received a full-time offer with a short deadline, and even after an extension did not have enough time to apply to other places. The day after signing the offer I received an interview at another big 4 firm (Firm B) in a consulting role.

I recently received an offer for firm B that offers a 20% pay increase and is in consulting which better aligns with my career goals. I went to my career services advisor and they STRONGLY recommended I didn't renege and would have my reputation destroyed.

I enjoyed the work at firm A, but firm B is a much better role and I would love to renege and take it if possible. Would I be blackballed in the industry? What do you guys think I should do?

I was personally in a similar spot. Firm A gave me a week to decide while I was in the middle of interviewing with B. Both Big 4. One was consulting the other was not. I ended up renegging and was told I cannot apply for jobs at Firm A for two years. My career services felt the same way but in the end they were not told about the incident. Personally it was the right decision for me and the career path I wanted. Good luck.
