SEO's website hacked?
Hey can anyone go to the career section of the SEO website and click on the links on the left. I thought this was my computer at first but it seems like SEO has been hacked?

wow. just saw that. hopefully the hacker didn't get access to all those students' personal information.
o shit someone did hack that website. that means they do probably have student information.
cant believe this. we'll see what comes out of this. Flo,whats good?
thats pretty impressive. whoever hacked it should be a shoe-in into the program
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is SEO?
Hacking a network is not incredibly hard. Getting out without being traced or noticed is the tough part. If this chap managed to get out without being traced then, bravo!
wow did a search on this email address on yahoo... appears the hacker goes by the alias dr. saudi
The hacker hit 5 different pages it appears.
should i be worried at all about my pending seo application?... i can't recall if i gave my ssn or anything of that sorts... i dont think i did.
I wouldn't worry about it. #1, doubt they stole all the applicant info. #2, often times this more sensitive data is typically encrypted and stored in a more secure environment and cannot be easily accessed through tradition web hacking methods. Also, personally if I wanted to steal this sort of info, I would try to do so without letting anyone know I had been there, so I could come back and get more if I needed/wanted.
In short, I wouldnt worry about it.
didn't know what "the seo site" was either but found this (how do you guys know about this site anyways?) http://www.seo-ny.org/career/default.asp
why would someone want to hack that?
It's a very well known program that places minority applicants into good positions as summer analysts in BB banks.
yes, though, I'm not entirely sure why someone would hack it. I mean, if they wanted to change data, that would be stupid, because data is always backed up on other systems or networks. If they wanted to change an admission decision, then that too doesn't make sense, because even that data has paper based backups or alternative electronic back up
There is a very large internet culture of hacking for the prestige of hacking. This person clearly wanted the internet hacking community to know that he did it, as he left his e-mail address. As odd as it seems (particularly from a financial/economic perspective), the hacker probably just hacked this website for the hell of it.

wannabebanker is spot on here. There are a number of reasons people hack websites, and stealing information is only one of them.
i guess you can call them first thing tomorrow
the seo website was hacked earlier this year as well. i wouldn't be worried about application information too much, because I think the applications are done through a different network/company called applynow.
I remember when USC's system was hacked a few years ago. They sent out a letter about it. Good thing I was just a prospective applicant and didn't end up applying.
he probably did it for the fun of it.
there cud be a financial motive aswell for hacking b/c the seo ppl cud maybe pay the hacker to get outa there or to make the site more secure.
how is it hacked? i dont see anything wrong...
