summer in ib tech, what do i do with it?

i'm a rising soph at a target school with a high gpa (think easy intro classes). i wasn't very diligent looking for real ib internships freshman year, ended up here in an ib tech internship at a major bb. i didn't even know about any of the freshman programs. basically, i don't have much work besides formatting this 10 pg powerpoint that goes out once a week (this forum has been a great boredom-buster, by the way)

what do i do with this internship? i've been poking around, learning about the back office, but obviously i'm looking to get into front office next summer. any advice would be appreciated very much, thanks!

You're off to a good start.

You're off to a good start. Try to find as many contacts on the IB side as possible. Shoot them introductory emails asking them to lunch/coffee/etc. Just try to find out as much as you can about what they do and their respective groups. Also, after you've talked with them a few times, ask them for contact info of a few of their colleagues, both in their groups and in other groups. Repeat. Build your network and cast it as wide as you can through as many groups as you can in the IB. Then start going up the ladder to associates / VPs / MDs.

Build these relationships over the next 6 months, and they'll help you get your resume in come SA interviews in Jan / Feb.

But since you're at a target w/ a high GPA, you'll most likely get the interviews next year anyways. However, the more work you do this summer to cast your network, the better your chances come Jan.
