Telefund Job as Freshman
Hi, I finished my first year at a semi-target in Canada (finance and econ major).
During the school year, I only focused on academics and didn't search for internship opportunities. I ended up with a 3.77gpa.
After the final exams, I basically fooled around with my high school friends at the beach/ bars/ gym and enjoyed my time.
Now that I'm done fooling around I decided to look for a job.
Since the hiring season for internships are basically done, I am planning to get a telefund job at the university.
I will be earning 12 dollars an hour which would help me greatly since my parents are not supporting me during this summer.
My question is whether this job would have any negative effect on me when I search for boutique IB positions or PWM positions during the school year?
Should I write this job on my resume?
Or should I search for a more relevant job all together?
Thank you in advance.

Nobody's gonna care, you're a freshman...you're supposed to fool around.
If you got better stuff to put on your resume, sure leave it off, but otherwise put it there. It's work experience nonetheless.

For a first year job it could be decent, you have a good GPA so thats a positive as well. I would take the job and see how it is. If its not very legit, then you can leave it off your resume, and if you can spin it, it won't hurt.
thanks for the response. I
thanks for the response.
I guess I can spin it for a PWM internship at least.

Realistically, a university telefund job isn't that bad, its just cold calling, and you aren't really selling or doing anything sleazy. It probably won't be fun, but a shitty cold calling job is pretty much a right of passage.
