Tipping the driver from Car Service

Do you guys tip the guy who drives the town car?

At times, I take car service upstate on the weekends to visit family (~50-60 mins) since I leave from work on Friday night.

I have a carry-on bag that the driver puts in and takes out of the trunk for me.

Do you tip the driver? I've been doing this for about 2 years now and for the first time got a dirty look from the driver because it looked like he was waiting for a tip.

Never thought about this before.

Tip is included in what your firm is charged. I don't usually tip these guys.

There is one guy who always has newspapers and magazines back there, has a cooler in his trunk with cold bottles of water, and must prep the car before he picks someone up since theres a cold bottle of water in the cup holder... usually shoots the shit with you, but also leaves you the fuck alone when you don't feel like bullshitting... etc... I gave this guy a 20 spot during the holidays. But he really works for it. I've seen one of my MDs paid for the driver's parking ticket cuz a cunt traffic cop was writing him a ticket while we were getting into the car.

firm tells us to never tip driver. a more than generous tip percentage is already included from firm. in your case, i would check with the firm since this is an upstate trip (different from routine). my old firm never asked questions on any expense, but some cultures are different.
