To those who have read "Bank"...

I understand the author has an often funny flair for the dramatic, but how real of a depiction of analyst life is this? Any guesses as to his employer?

My thoughts

Bank is a fiction novel based on banking stereotypes. As you suggest, the author has a flair for the dramatic. However, about 40-60% of each stereotype, assertion or anecdote is more or less valid. For example, the author's "star" analyst does, in fact, resemble (a few) people you will work with. Conversely, the philandering MD, the jock, and the sex tape hardly pair with reality.

In summary, if you were to compile the most extreme stories and stereotypes to emerge in banking in the past decade and pile them into one person's life, you would have Bank. I enjoyed it. I'd even recommend it. But take it with a grain of salt.

Also, follow iambateman's advice and read Monkey Business. Much closer to the truth (although far from what you should expect personally).
