Trading - Junior with a paltry GPA
I am an undergrad right now. I am a junior, with a paltry g.p.a, no-job major, and no work experience, plus I am at a nameless school. Is it possible to I can change my life? This is finance related because I wish to enter a finance career. I have always had an interest in economics and math, but I had some personal issues that pushed me to pursue other things. Please tell me if my plan is possible or even worth it. I am supposed to graduate in 2012, but since I am a behind in my credit hours I will graduate 2013. I want to transfer to my local state school. In this time I will change my major to economics and minor in math. I can complete the requirements, and hopefully gain summer internship in summer 2012 through networking my butt off and hard work. My flagship state school has a pretty good business school, with opportunity I could get involved in such as research (private equity research for example) , and participation in simulated trading competitions.
If this all works out I would also like to pursue a masters in finance. This may be unrelated but I am a young woman does that make a difference in the admission process or in any part of this whole process?
Is trying to accomplish these goals worth the time and effort? At this point am I too late in the the game. I'm a still in undergrad, can I still make a change? Personally, I want to do this all, but will I even get a job at the end if I do all this? I am just saying this because of all the 4.0 Harvard grads, who has diligently worked hard their whole life. I am not that, but I want to be the best I can possibly be.
