truth about Accenture MCDP

So I have been in the MCDP program for 9 months now. I graduated from a top 10 school, majored in engineering, had a 3.5, was an intern at Accenture, president of my sorority, etc.

I chose the Accenture MCDP program because I wanted to be able to explore different service lines and industries. I really wanted to do strategy and CRM because I like that kind of stuff!

So when I started I told my career counselor I did not want to do change management or anything in TOP. I got a role with change management and had to take it because being unchargeable "looks bad". Now it's been 9 months and I CANT GET OUT OF MY ROLE. my supervisor essentially threatened me with a bad review if I leave (even though the whole point of the program is for you to leave after a few months) stating that I will put the project at dire risk, etc. etc.

Let me tell you what I do all day: I go through 500 page documents, doing Ctrl F and changing the hyperlinks. Afterwards I take screenshots of a bugged system and format them to make sure they are all right. Then I go through pages of excel documents trying to understand what IT developers are trying to communicate. I've been doing this for 9 months and I can't get out of the role.

I just want to be honest with all of you reading this because I REALLY WISH SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME. I had an offer from Google which I didn't take (stupid me) because I wanted to "develop my skills". I seriously have learned nothing but using copy paste and ctrl F

They advertise it as a MANAGEMENT CONSULTING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM to attract top talent from schools from going into pure strategy firms, but honestly, if you want to feel like a robot doing work a second grader can do, DONT INTERVIEW DONT JOIN!!!

u only have a 3.5 why are you top talent
It's pretty fucking stupid when people equate gpa to "top" talent.

Troll is successful.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

It depends on what it was for. Was it aligned to Strategy or was it aligned to Technology Strategy? I asked around about the SITE stuff and then pure strategy. But... bottom line was, it's tech, it's tech, it's tech consulting. Good thing I didn't go this route. But yeah everyone--don't join.

Why would they have to advertise their starting UK salary, sign on bonus (in full numbers), with commercials? Those commercials are uninspiring anyway haha.

what is wrong with it consulting ?

If you were already an intern you should've known that change management type work sucks and tend to be long term. And if no one told you yet, you are most likely not getting promoted your first year (unless you love what you are doing, which is not the case), so being on the bench slightly longer or getting a bad review won't hurt. Obviously your manager is holding you hostage. If you are as miserable as you sound, take a bad review and try something else. Get your counselor and HR involved.
